The Development Director cultivates relationships with donors, churches, businesses, foundations, community partners, volunteers, and supporters and provides leadership for fundraising, donor stewardship, events, grants, sponsorships, communications, and other development initiatives. Mission: To connect with and empower women and men facing an unplanned pregnancy with free, immediate transformational support to choose life for their unborn child and discover abundant life in Christ. Vision: To be a transformational Christian refuge.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrates a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to Christian ministry.
- Fully supports Care Net's Statement of Faith, Statement of Principle, Mission, Vision, Core Values, and life-affirming ministry.
- Active involvement in a Bible-believing church.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- At least three years of experience in fundraising, donor development, nonprofit development, event management, or a related field; equivalent applicable experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with donors, churches, businesses, foundations, and community partners.
- Strong organizational, communication, writing, interpersonal, and public-speaking skills.
- Ability to strategically plan, establish goals, manage multiple priorities, and follow through on commitments.
- Experience with donor databases, fundraising systems, spreadsheets, word processing, presentations, and other technology.
- Demonstrates sound judgment, initiative, flexibility, confidentiality, emotional maturity, integrity, dependability, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the Executive Director, staff, Board members, volunteers, donors, and community partners.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. CHRIST-CENTERED DEVELOPMENT LEADERSHIP
- Demonstrate a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ and model Christ-centered servant leadership.
- Champion Care Net's Mission, Vision, Core Values, Statement of Faith, Statement of Principle, and life-affirming ministry.
- Conduct development activities with integrity, compassion, professionalism, confidentiality, and excellence.
- Encourage and support staff and volunteers involved in development and fundraising.
2. DEVELOPMENT & FUNDRAISING
- Work with the Executive Director to create and implement annual fundraising plans aligned with the Strategic Plan, budget, and organizational priorities.
- Establish measurable fundraising goals, monitor progress, and regularly report trends, opportunities, challenges, and recommendations to the Executive Director.
- Identify and develop opportunities for individuals, churches, businesses, foundations, corporations, and communities.
- Develop strategies to acquire, retain, cultivate, and increase donor support.
- Develop and coordinate with the Executive Director and appropriate staff, a comprehensive fund development program, including annual and recurring giving, major and planned gifts, events, campaigns, grants, and other revenue opportunities.
- Evaluate fundraising results and recommend opportunities for improvement.
3. DONOR & COMMUNITY RELATIONSHIPS
- Lead a comprehensive donor stewardship strategy focused on acquiring new donors, retaining and building relationships with current donors and ministry supporters, and increasing donor engagement and investment over time.
- Oversee donor stewardship, acknowledgments, thank-you communications, appeals, and donor appreciation. • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential donor and prospect records using Care Net's donor-management systems.
- Develop relationships with pastors, churches, businesses, civic organizations, community leaders, and ministry partners.
- Represent Care Net through presentations, networking, speaking engagements, community activities, and other opportunities that increase awareness and support.
4. DEVELOPMENT COMMUNICATIONS & MARKETING
- Work collaboratively with the Media/Marketing Coordinator to communicate Care Net's Mission, ministry impact, fundraising opportunities, events, and donor needs.
- Contribute to newsletters, direct mail, digital communications, social media, presentations, appeals, and other development materials.
- Ensure development communications are accurate, compelling, professional, and consistent with Care Net's Mission, branding, and messaging.
5. STAFF & VOLUNTEER LEADERSHIP
- Provide supervision, direction, goal setting, performance feedback, and accountability for assigned development and marketing staff and volunteers.
- Recruit, train, equip, encourage, and recognize volunteers involved in development activities.
- Work collaboratively with other department leaders to support organizational goals and ministry effectiveness.
- Participate in staff meetings, retreats, conferences, training, and ministry functions.
6. STRATEGIC PLANNING & ACCOUNTABILITY
- Ensure development activities support Care Net's Mission, Vision, Values, Strategic Plan, annual goals, and financial priorities.
- Monitor development, fundraising, donor, sponsorship, and event results.
- Provide regular reports and recommendations to the Executive Director regarding progress, opportunities, challenges, and results.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen Care Net's long-term financial sustainability.
- Participate in organizational planning and problem-solving as requested by the Executive Director.
PERFORMANCE & ACCOUNTABILITY
The Development Director is accountable to the Executive Director. Annual performance goals will be established collaboratively by the Executive Director and Development Director and will align with the Strategic Plan and organizational priorities. Performance will be evaluated in areas including:
- Faithfulness to Mission, Vision, and Core Values
- Development and fundraising goal achievement
- Donor acquisition, retention, cultivation, and stewardship
- Fundraising event and campaign effectiveness
- Grants, sponsorships, and designated giving
- Church and community partnerships
- Donor communication and engagement
- Staff and volunteer leadership
- Communication and accountability to the Executive Director
- Contribution to the financial sustainability of Care Net
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
The position is primarily office-based but requires regular participation in meetings, community activities, presentations, fundraising events, and ministry functions. Fundraising events may require extended periods of standing, walking, lifting, setup, and other physical activity appropriate to the event.
